Abstract

Pomegranate - Punicagranatum L. This is a famous fruit tree. Pomegranate is grown in orchards and vegetable gardens throughout Central Asia. It is also found in the wild in the valleys of mountain rivers. Since ancient times, pomegranate has been known as a food plant. Its fruits are used in the wine vodka and confectionery industry. The excellent taste qualities of pomegranate have caused it to be called "heavenly" fruits. There are dozens of varieties of pomegranate with different taste qualities. Since ancient times, it has been used as a therapeutic agent. It was also used as a dye for dyeing fabrics. The plant is also popular in modern folk and scientific medicine. Pomegranate peels are used for tanning leather, and the fruits are raw materials for the extraction of citric acid.
