Abstract
This article discusses the issues of independence of the investigator's activities in the preliminary investigation, the participation of the investigator in choosing a measure of coercion and restraint for the suspect and the accused, the powers of the investigator in the collection of evidence. It also contains proposals and recommendations for expanding the independence of the investigator.
