Abstrak
This study examines abbreviations in Arabic and English, focusing on their formation, usage, and cultural significance. While both languages use abbreviations to enhance communication efficiency, their structures differ due to linguistic and phonetic variations. English abbreviations include acronyms, initialisms, clippings, and contractions, whereas Arabic primarily relies on initialisms and phonetic reductions. The impact of globalization has led to the widespread adoption of English abbreviations in Arabic, especially in business and technology. This research provides a detailed comparison, offering insights into how abbreviations reflect linguistic evolution, cultural norms, and technological advancements.
