The SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) is a crucial requirement for students who wish to study in countries where English is the primary language of instruction. In Uzbekistan, thousands of high school students are seeking educational opportunities abroad and taking the SAT, with the number of applicants expected to rise significantly in the coming years. This study investigates the common mistakes test-takers make and develops strategies to help avoid these pitfalls before the exam. Forty-two students preparing for the SAT participated voluntarily in the survey, which examined mistakes in each section of the test. The findings revealed that complex math problems requiring multiple skills posed particular challenges, highlighting the need for instructional emphasis on problem-solving strategies. Additionally, targeted support is necessary for word problems and advanced topics, such as trigonometry and geometry.
