The Role of Speech Signal Variability in Affecting Speech Perception Received by Iraqi EFL Learners

This paper aims to study the variable features of speech signals that affect speech perception since the speech sound may vary remarkably each time it is produced. This variation occurs due to many factors like the individual variation in human anatomy, variation within speakers like speaking fast or slow, ambient noise, and context. Thus, this study aims to shed light on how one of these variations or all of them can affect the reception of the speech signal by the recipients. The researcher will collect Iraqi EFL learners listening to a recorded clause under the effect of one or two of these variables to check how much the variables are effective in the perception of the speech signal.
