Abstrak

Life depends on water on all fields, for example, body components, food, economy, tourism,….etc. The climate change, population increasing and economic development are caused high demand on water sources in general in any country. Some countries have additional issues reduce water sources such as hot weather and their water sources come from outside borders. The outside border water source can be managed by the deals between the related countries or by United Nation’s (UN) regulations. However, each country share of water is based on water percentage not on quantity. Therefore, each country should manage their water inside their borders effectively to reduce the losses to keep the water sources for further future in particular for countries are far from seas. This study investigates the mentioned problems and suggests solutions by considering Iraq as an example for water resources management. This is because it has hot weather most days along the year, it’s riverine water goes to the sea and it’s most water sources are found outside borders. The water sources in Iraq mainly consists of rivers flow outside borders. Water losses occur due to several factors that should have urgent focus to reduce the harmful impacts on the society of Iraq. Therefore, Iraq should adopt a strategy towards ZERO drop of riverine water escape to the sea (Arabian Gulf). Different methodologies can be combined to collect and analyze the data, such as field measurements, topographic photos and software simulations.
