THE PROPHETS' NAMES IN ENGLISH AND UZBEK TRANSLATIONS: A COMPARATIVE LINGUISTIC STUDY

This paper examines the translational variations of Islamic prophets' names from Arabic into English and Uzbek. The study analyzes the extent to which names retain, semantic, and cultural integrity in both languages. By comparing transliterated and translated forms, the paper highlights the influence of linguistic systems, religious contexts, and historical transmission on name adaptation. Results indicate that English and Uzbek translations align almost closely with original Arabic pronunciation due to shared Islamic heritage, including minor exceptions. This linguistic analysis provides insight into how sacred names are localized across the two languages.
