Abstract

This article discusses the purpose, procedure and role of the international assessment program TIMSS (Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study) in assessing the quality of education worldwide. The article analyzes the results of the studies, which have been conducted every four years since 1995, the criteria for their analysis, and the differences in the education systems of countries with high and low indicators. In particular, based on the 2023 TIMSS results, the high indicators of countries such as Singapore, the Republic of Korea, Japan, the reasons for the decline in the USA and Spain, as well as Uzbekistan's participation and reforms in the education system are described. Also, the necessary measures are presented to achieve high results. The article reveals the importance of TIMSS results in shaping educational strategies.
