Abstract
The results of numerous experimental studies on animals leave no doubt that the thymus gland has a formative effect on the development of the entire lymphoid system as a whole. Animals subjected to thymus removal in the neonatal period are characterized by signs of wasting syndrome, or wasting syndrome, characterized by stunting, dystrophic skin changes. In addition, removal of the thymus in newborn rodents disrupts the formation of lymphoid tissue.
