Abstract

Cooperative societies play a significant role in promoting financial inclusion, resource mobilization, and socio-economic development. However, many cooperatives still rely on manual or semi-digital systems for managing membership, savings, and loan transactions, leading to inefficiencies, errors, poor record management, and delays in financial reporting. This study presents the development of an enhanced web-based cooperative society management system aimed at improving financial and membership administration. The study examined the limitations of existing systems, identifying challenges such as lack of system integration, weak security mechanisms, limited decision-support capabilities, and absence of automated financial reporting. To address these issues, the Rapid Application Development (RAD) methodology was adopted for system design and implementation. The system was developed using PHP and MySQL for backend operations, while HTML, CSS, and JavaScript were used to create an interactive and responsive user interface. The system integrates key modules including membership management, savings tracking, loan processing, automated financial reporting, data analytics dashboards, and role-based access control. System evaluation was conducted by comparing the proposed system with existing systems across several operational parameters. The results showed significant improvements in performance, including membership registration efficiency increasing from 55% to 92%, savings transaction accuracy from 60% to 95%, loan processing efficiency from 50% to 90%, financial reporting speed from 48% to 94%, access control efficiency from 52% to 96%, and decision-support capability from 45% to 93%. The study concludes that the developed system provides a reliable and efficient platform for managing cooperative activities and improving transparency, security, and decision-making in cooperative societies.
