Abstract

The article describes the historical evolution of consumer ethics and culture. It is noted that consumer culture has been developing for centuries under the influence of several philosophical and social currents. In modern times, consumption has become a form of stable organization of social life, has acquired the characteristics of a social institution, and has become a form of the process of reproduction of sociality. Today, consumer activity has become the most widespread type of social activity of society and the main principle of social organization.
