Abstract
The article discusses the cultural specificities of Uzbek and American jokes, the nature of jokes as a genre of folklore. It also discusses how the study of American and Uzbek jokes sheds light on the complex relationship between humor and culture, and analyzes the pragmatic functions of jokes, artistic realism, and cultural aspects of the style of performance.
