The Influence of Bilinguism on the Development of Speech Activity in Preschool Children

Bilingualism, the ability to use two languages proficiently, has become increasingly common in today's multicultural societies, influencing various aspects of language acquisition and development. Particularly in early childhood, bilingualism significantly impacts the development of speech activity, requiring careful attention from linguists, educators, and speech therapists. Despite extensive research, there remains insufficient understanding of how bilingualism specifically affects speech development in preschool children, especially concerning phonetic and phonemic speech correction. This study aims to investigate the influence of bilingualism on the development of speech activity among bilingual preschool children, highlighting necessary considerations for effective speech therapy interventions. The findings indicate that the level of first language development critically affects second language acquisition and that individualized approaches are essential for addressing speech disorders in bilingual children. The article emphasizes the dual role of bilingualism in both facilitating and complicating speech development and stresses the need for methodological adaptations in a multilingual educational context.
