Abstract

This study focuses on the syntactic and semantic analysis of adjunctive constructions in modern German. Adjunctive constructions, including adjectives, participles, and other syntactic elements, play a key role in refining, describing, and supplementing meanings within sentences. The article examines the main types of such constructions, their functions, and their usage features in various contexts. It addresses issues such as the agreement of adjunctive elements with nouns, their positioning within sentences, and their impact on the semantic perception of utterances.
Special attention is given to the distinction between adjectives and participles, as well as their semantic functions—ranging from conveying qualities and characteristics of objects to expressing actions and states. Examples from literary, scientific, and colloquial texts are analyzed to demonstrate the practical application of adjunctive constructions in real-life speech.
This work emphasizes the importance of adjunctive constructions as a means of expressiveness and specificity in language, highlighting their role in shaping meanings at the syntactic and semantic levels. The findings are significant for further studies of German grammar and for teaching and translation practice.
