Abstract
Emotional burnout in the adolescent population has gained acceptance as a distinct and clinically relevant issue that goes beyond academic stress and normative developmental crises. The goal of this paper is to review modern international studies on adolescent academic burnout in order to analyze its psychological mechanisms, risk factors, and protective resources, as well as directions for prevention provision of assistance within educational institutions. The article illustrates how it emerges at the crossroad of individual personality features and institutional properties of the educational system; its disregards are linked to a risk of enduring negative outcomes for affective life and social adjustment.
