Abstract

In this article, the opinions of our country and foreign scientists are mentioned about the effective aspects of the use of diuretics in the elderly. The use of diuretics in older adults is common due to the prevalence of conditions like hypertension, heart failure, and chronic kidney disease. However, the effectiveness and safety of diuretic therapy in elderly patients depend on several factors. Diuretics can be highly effective for managing conditions like hypertension, heart failure, and edema in the elderly. However, their use requires careful attention to dosing, electrolyte monitoring, and potential side effects. Tailoring therapy to the individual patient’s needs and regularly monitoring their response ensures optimal effectiveness and minimizes risks.
