Abstract

The article analyzes the synonymic series of the lexeme “face” in the Uzbek language on the basis of frame semantics. During the research process, the cognitive functions, core and peripheral relations, scenario characteristics, and activation mechanisms in literary texts of such lexemes as yuz (face), chehra (countenance), bet (face/cheek), oraz (beautiful face), ruxsor (cheek/face), diydor (visage/meeting), aft (appearance), bashara (ugly face), and turq (look/appearance) were elucidated.
